“Bismillahir Rahmannir Raheem”Al-Hamdu Lillaahi Rabbil ‘Aalameen was Salaatu was- Salaamu ‘Alaa Sayidinaa Muhammadin wa Aalihi wa Asabihi Ajma ‘een (tauheed- risalat- ahkirat and islam-iman-ihsan)
Imam al-Bayhaqi (d. 458/1066; Rahimahullah) stated in his: The Seventy-Seven Branches of Faith (pg. 42-3), under the fiftieth branch of faith (50 – Holding firmly to the position of the majority): “God Most High has said: Hold fast, all together, to the rope of God, and do not bedisunited. [3:103].
Imam Rabbani, Mujaddid Alif Thaani (ra) states in the second chapter, page 67 of his “Maktubaat Shareef” that: “The way of salvation is followance of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat. May Almighty Allah Ta’ala bestow blessings upon the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, in their speech, in their actions, laws, for this is the successful group. Besides this, all other groups have become victims of deception. Today, nobody realises how much these misled groups will be punished, however, on the Day of Qiyamah this secret will become apparent. Even though at that time this knowledge will be of no benefit to the misled.”
Najm ad-Din al-Ghazzi (d. 1061/1651; Rahimahullah) wrote: ‘Ahl as-Sunnah Wa’l Jama’ah are those ulama who keep on the right path of Rasullullah ﷺ and as-Sahaba al-Kiram. As-Sawad al-Azam, that is, the majority of Islamic scholars, have followed this right path. The Firqatun-Naajiyyah which was defined to be the group of salvation among the seventy three groups is this true Jama’ah.’
Shaykh Abd’al Haq (Ra) writes in his famous book Ash’at-al-Lam’at’ “The group of Muslims on the correct path, who will enter Paradise, are the Ahl as-Sunnah-Wal-Jama’ah.”None of the Sahaba, the Salaf-e-Saliheen or the pious scholars of Islam followed the new ideas or beliefs. They strictly abstained from the groups who followed these deviated ideas and beliefs. Their beliefs and actions opposed these new ideas and beliefs. All the great scholars of Hadith and the great scholars of Fiqh of the four Sunni Schools of thought and their followers, all held the belief of the Ahl as-Sunnah Jama’ah. In addition, all the great pious Muslims and the Sufi Saints of the past and present, followed the way of the Ahl as-Sunnat Wal Jama’ah.
“Truly whoever abused the Holy Prophetﷺ or ascribed any fault to him or attributed any defect to his family, religion or his habit, or reproached him, or compared the Holy Prophetﷺ with any defective thing with the objective of degrading his personality and prestige, he is truly an abusive person and deserves to be executed. We make absolutely no exception to this verdict, whether the insult has been committed intentionally or unintentionally. This has been the verdict of all the Ulama of the Umma from the time of the Companions to the present day.” (Qadi Ayyad – Shifa, V2 P214)
Ahmad (in his Musnad) and Abd ar-Razzaq in his (Tafsir) narrated from the route of Abu Hurayrah that he said: ‘when Surah an-Nasr was revealed to the Prophet, he said:The people of Yemen have come to you and they have thin and soft hearts. The belief is Yemeni and the wisdom is Yemeni. This is in al-Bukhariyy and Muslim.
The people mentioned in the hadith are the ones about whom Ayah 54 of Surah al-Ma’idah was revealed:Allah will bring forth a people whom He accepts and they love Him. They are humble with the believers, rough and proud over the blasphemers, and they perform Jihad for the sake of Allah, not fearing anyone’s blame in their pursuit.
Al-Hakim (in his Mustadrak) and Ibn Asakir narrated that when the ayah was revealed, the Prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, pointed at Abu Musa al-Ashariyy and said: They are the people of this man.
Al-Qurtubiyy said in his Tafsir: that al-Qushayriyy said:The followers of Abu al-Hasan al-Ashariyy are his people because every time a people are attributed to a prophet, what is meant is his followers. The Hafidh Ibn Asakir said when he mentioned this hadith: هم قوم هذا “It is known by the intellectual proofs and the proofs of the fundamental texts that no one among the offspring of Abu Musa al-Ashariyy refuted the falsehood of the innovators by irrefutable proofs from the Qur’an, Sunnah, Ijma (Consensus), and Qiyas except Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ashariyy. The hadith of Abu Musa is a clear evidence of the merit of Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ashariyy. He endeavored against the enemies of the truth and defeated them. Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ashariyy shattered their words and gatherings with irrefutable intellectual proofs and transmitted texts.”
