THE ETIQUETTE/MANNERS OF SALAAM/GREETING

When a Muslim meets his Muslim brother and shakes hand, their sins fall down like the dry leaves from a tree during a storm, and their sins are forgiven even if these are equal to the foams of ocean.

When making Musaafa, do so with both hands. For males to shake hands with na-Mahram ladies is not permissible.

To meet one another, chest to chest, heart to heart, neck to neck and shoulder to shoulder is called “Muaaniqa”. This is a sign of love and friendship.

To kiss the mother, father, Peer, Ustaad, brothers, sisters, wife or children, hand, feet, forehead or cheek out of love and affection is totally permissible and a way of showing love and reverence.

When replying to a salaam that has been conveyed through a next Person, answer by saying: WA ALAYKUM WA ALAYHIMUS SALAAM.

When entering an empty house, on should say: “As Salaamu Alaika Ayuhan Nabiyu wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu, Was Salaamu Alaina Wa Alaa Ibaadallahis Saaliheen”.

When entering the Musjid, one should say: “Bismillahi Was Salaamu ala Rasoolullahi”.

When going to the grave of a Muslim, say at least this:  “As Salaamu Alaikum Ya Ahlil Quboor Yaghfirullah lana wa lakum Wa Inna Insha Allahi Bikum Laahiqoon”.   Or    Assalam-o-Alaykum ya ahl al quburi yaghfir ullahu lana wa la kum antum salafuna wa nahnu bil athar    or  “Assalaamu ‘alaykum ahl al-diyaar min al-mu’mineen wa’l-Muslimeen, in sha Allaah bikum laahiqoon, as’al Allaaha lana wa lakum al-‘aafiyah

To greet any of your relations  Ibn ‘Umar used to say, ……al-salaamu ‘alayka ya abati (O my father),” …… This was classed as saheeh by al-Haafiz ibn Hajar.

For aulia allah- assalamu alaika ya sayeedi (mention the name) rahmatullah alai.

When visiting the Roza-e-Anwar of Rasoolullah (peace be upon him) one should say: “As Salaatu Was Salaamu Alaika Ya Rasoolallah, As Salaatu Was Salaamu Alaika Ya Habeeballah, As Salaatu Was Salaamu Alaika Ya Rahmatal Lil Alameen Wa Alaa aalika wa Ashaabika Ya Shafi al Muznibeen”.

When I want to talk to allah I say prayers and when I want that he talk to me I recite quran- Hazrath Ali(ra)

Make sure you forward this to others .
