Shabe mehraj

Narrated by Masruq:Sayyedah Aisha (Ra) said, “If anyone tells you that Prophet Muhammad () has seen his Lord, he is a liar, for Allah says: ‘No vision can grasp Him.’ (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Ra) narrated that: Holy Prophet () himself said: I saw my Lord, (Allah) Tabaraka Wa Ta’ala. [Al Musnad-Imam Ahmad Bin Hambal, 386/4, #2634]

The most unseen of the unseens is the being (zaat) of Allah(swt) .when our beloved prophet saw his rabb and creator with his blessed physical eyes on the night of meraj, what thing from the creation can now be hidden to him?

Nabi means he who communicates the unseen.

“And this Nabi is not stingy in telling the Unseen.” – 81/24

“It is not Allah’s(swt) glory to divulge the knowledge of the unseen to you, 0 common people. Yes, Allah(swt) chooses whoever He wishes from His Messengers.” – 3/179

“And taught you, O Muhammad , all which you did not know …..4/113

Those Ayats, Ahadith or rulings of the Jurists (Fuqaha) that negate the Prophet’s knowledge of the unseen reject either original (zaati) knowledge or absolute information, i.e. information equal to Allah’s(swt),  Bestowed (ataa’i) knowledge is not negated.

The stance of Sayyedah Ayesha (ra) is her own personal view/ijtihad. This can be seen as she is using an Ayah (verse) of Quran to explain her stance where as Hazrat Ibn e Abbas (Ra) is narrating directly from Holy Prophet () without using his opinion.

She had her own opinions on certain issues as some of the other learned companions had like on namaz e qasr [Sahih Bukhari, Kitab al Taqseer No 1090; Sahih Muslim, Kitab al Musafireen wal qasariha No 685; Sunan Nasai, Kitab ul Salah No 455]

In reality the rejection of Sayyidah Aisha (ra) is of “IDRAAK (COMPLETE COMPREHENSION OF ALLAH)” but rejection of Idraak does not mean Prophet did not see Allah at all. (Quran does Nafi of “Idraak” not Sight)

Sayyidah Aisha (RA) was less than 4 years of age when incident of Mi’raaj took place (meccan period), hence the opinion of senior Sahaba shall be taken into account as they understood the incident more properly.

Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal (rah) said: ……because the saying of Prophet () is far superior than saying of her (i.e. Aisha (ra))  (Fath ul Bari, Sharh Sahih ul Bukhari, Volume No. 8, Page No. 494) (But preference will be given to the Saying/Sunnah of Holy Prophet ())

. … So when Ibn Abbas (ra) is proving it while some others are doing Nafi of it then It is a (Principle) that Masbat (Proof) takes over Nafi (rejection) (By Imam an nawawi(ra)- Sharh Sahih Muslim, Kitab al Iman, Chapter in meaning of :He saw him at the second descent).

.….. there cannot be Idraak (i.e. complete comprehension, to gather all around, to see all aspects) of Allah, so the Nass (of Quran) does Nafi of Al-Ihaat but this does not do Nafi of sight without Ihaata(i.e. complete comprehension) .(Sharah Sahih Muslim by Imam Nawawi)

….. what she said was as interpretation of verses of Quran (with her own understanding/ijtihad). [Sharah Sahih Muslim-Imam Nawawi]

…….Ibn Abbas (ra) who was actually a far superior commentator of Quran than Aisha (ra) herself..

….. And If a companion say something and other companions oppose it (with stronger proofs) then the saying of first companion will not remain Hujjah i.e. valid argument. [Sharah Sahih Muslim-Imam Nawawi]

…Moreover it is also supported by the fact that on the day of Judgment Saliheen will have sight of Allah. If HIS sight is not possible at all then it should be the same on the Day of Judgment . [Sharah Sahih Muslim-Imam Nawawi]

Imam Bukhari and Muslim narrates: …….The Prophet  said, “(Similarly) you will have no difficulty in seeing Allah on the Day of Resurrection as you have no difficulty in seeing either of them (mid day sun and full moon)[Sharah Sahih Muslim-Imam Nawawi]

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: The Prophet embraced me and said, “O Allah! Teach him (the knowledge of) the Book (Quran).”(bukhari)

When I want to talk to allah I say prayers and when I want that he talk to me I recite quran- Hazrath Ali(ra)

Make sure you forward this to others .
