Dras E Imam, Shariath

“Bismillahir Rahmannir Raheem”Al-Hamdu Lillaahi Rabbil ‘Aalameen was Salaatu was- Salaamu ‘Alaa Sayidinaa Muhammadin wa Aalihi wa Asabihi Ajma ‘een (tauheed- risalat- ahkirat and islam-iman-ihsan)

Allah (swt) hears all callings and voices because all voices are near to Him and He Himself is close also(Allah (swt) is closer to us than our own jugular veins—“When My servants ask you about Me, then say that I am close,”), even if it is accepted that hearing from a distance is Allah’s (swt) quality, then hearing from near is also His quality. So if we now believe that someone has heard something from near, will we be ascribing Partners to Allah (swt), Everyone should be believed to be deaf.

Hearing distant voices and callings is absolutely not the quality of Allah (swt), because only be who is far from the caller hears callings from afar.

While in Kinaan, Hadrat Yaqoob (as) attained the Scent of Hadral Yusuf’s (as) shirt and said, “انی لا جدریح یوسف Is this polytheism or not?

While in Madina, Hadrat Umar (ra) called called out to Hadrat Saaria (ra) who was Present in Nawaahind during a jihad. The latter heard this call.- Mishkaat, Baabul Karaamat, Section 3. The eye of Hadrat Umar (ra) saw from afar and the ear of Hadrat Saaria (ra) heard a distant calling.

When Hadrat Ibraheem (ra) completed the construction of the Holy Kaaba, he ascended a mountain and called out to all the souls, “O Servants of Allah (swt) Come!” Everybody who will be born until Qiyaamat heard this. The soul that said “Labbaik” on this calling will definitely go for Hajj and the soul that remained silent shall never. (Tafteer RoohUI-Bayaan, Jalaalain, Madaarik)

Hadrat Ibraheem (as) also submitted. “O Allah(swt) Show me how you give life to the dead.” He was ordered to slaughter four birds and put their flesh on four mountains. “Then call them, they will come hastily towards you- 2/260.

Hadrat Sulaiman (as) heard the voice of an ant in the jungle from afar. It said, “Ants! Go into your homes lest Sulaiman (as) and his army crush you unknowingly,’ 27/18.

The Ahadith state that after burial, the deceased in the Qabr hears the sound of the feet of those outside. He also sees and recognizes those who visit the grave. This is why Salaam should be made to the inmates of the graves when entering the graveyard.(Mishkaat, Baabu Ithbaati Azaabil-Qabr)

Hadrat Abbas (ra) asked, “Ya RasoclAllah ! What did the moon do when you were an infant of 40 days?” Sayyiduna Rasoolullah replied. “My compassionate mother put my hands tightly together. When I began to cry due to some discomfort, the moon used to console me and stop me from crying.” Hadrat Ibn Abbas (ra) asked, “At that time you were a baby of 40 days’ old, so how do you know this? Rasoolullah explained, “When the Pen (Qalam) used to write on the Protected Tablet (Lauhe-Mahfooz), I used to hear n even though I was in the womb of my mother. When the angels beneath the Arsh used to make tasbeeh, I used to hear it even though I was in the womb of my mother.” (Fataawa Abdul-Hayy, Kitaabul-Aqaaid,Pg.43)

Ibn Umar had numbness in his leg, whereupon a man said to him:“Remember the most beloved of people to you”, so he said: “Ya Muhammad”[Imam al-Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (Hadith No. 964) in the chapter of What should be Done if Leg becomes Numb]

Quran says – (O beloved!) And if they had come to you, when they had wronged their souls, and asked forgiveness of Allah, and the Messenger also had asked forgiveness for them, they (on the basis of this means and intercession) would have surely found Allah the Granter of repentance, extremely Merciful. (Quran 4/64
Tafsir Ibn e Khatir for 4:64 – Allah is exhorting the sinners and evildoers that when they commit sins and errors they should call on the Messenger of Allah () and ask forgiveness from Allah. They should also request the Messenger of Allah () to pray for them. When they do so, Allah will turn to them and forgive them and He will show mercy to them. That is why He used the words la-wajadullāha tawwāban-rahīmā (they (on the basis of this means and intercession) would have surely found Allah the Granter of repentance, extremely Merciful).

Many have stated this tradition. One of them is Abū Mansūr Sabbāgh who writes in his book al-Hikāyāt-ul-mashhūrah that, according to ‘Utbī, once he was sitting beside the Prophet’s grave when a bedouin came and he said, “Peace be on you, O Allah’s Messenger. I have heard that Allah says: ‘(O beloved!) And if they had come to you, when they had wronged their souls, and asked forgiveness of Allah, and the Messenger also had asked forgiveness for them, they (on the basis of this means and intercession) would have surely found Allah the Granter of repentance, extremely Merciful.’ I have come to you, asking forgiveness for my sins and I make you as my intermediary before my Lord and I have come to you for this purpose.” Then he recited these verses:  “O(YA), the most exalted among the buried people who improved the worth of the plains and the hillocks! May I sacrifice my life for this grave which is made radiant by you, (the Prophet,) the one who is (an embodiment) of mercy and forgiveness.”

Then the bedouin went away and I fell asleep. In my dream I saw the Holy Prophet (
). He said to me: O ‘Utbī, the bedouin is right, go and give him the good news that Allah has forgiven his sins(Tafsir ibn e khatir for 4:64 ) Bayhaqī in Shu‘ab-ul-īmān (3:495-6#4178)Ibn Qudāmah in al-Mughnī (3:557).Nawawī in al-Adhkār (pp. 92-3).Ibn ‘Asākir in Tahdhīb tārīkh Dimashq al-kabīr popularly known as Tārīkh/Tahdhīb Ibn ‘Asākir as quoted by Subkī in Shifā’-us-siqām fī ziyārat khayr-il-anām (pp. 46-7)Ibn Hajar Haythamī in al-Jawhar-ul-munazzam (p. 51).
