The most prevalent punishment of the grave is because of urine. (al hakim)
The dead (person) is punished in his grave because of the wailing over him.(bukhari)
When Hadrat Uthman ibn Mazoon (ra)was buried, the Holy Prophet(saws)placed a stone on the head-side of the grave and said, “With this, we place the recognition of our brother’s grave and shall bury the deceased of our family here.”- Mishkaat Sharif.
Whenever a person dies, and one of his mourners stands up and cries, “O you whom we used to rely on! O you who used to rescue us! …,” and so on, two angels are appointed to hit him in the neck saying, “Were you truly as they say?”(tirmidhi)

The best that a man can leave behind after his death are three things: a righteous child who makes Dua for him, an ongoing sadaqah whose rewards continue to reach him, and a knowledge that continues to be implemented after him. (ibn majah)
Among the good deeds that continue to benefit a believer after death are: a knowledge that he taught and disseminated, a righteous child who lived after him, a Quran book that he left as inheritance, a masjid (mosque) that he built, a house that he built for the wayfarers, a stream that he ran, or a charity that he gave from his wealth during his healthy lifetime so that it would reach him (in rewards) after death. (ibn majah)

……..The grave is the first of the hereafter’s domiciles; if one passes through it safely, what follows will be easier; and if one does not pass through it safely, what follows will be more horrible……(tirmidhi)
“When a dead person is buried, two black angels with blue eyes come to him. One is called Munkar and the other Nakeer. They both ask him: ‘What did you use to say regarding this person (Muhammad (saws))?’. He will say: ‘He is the bondsman and messenger of Allah Ta‘aala. Ash-hadu an-la ilaaha illallaahu, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa-rasuluh’. They both will say: ‘(After seeing signs) We knew that you are going to say this’. Then his grave is widened seventy dhiraa (cubits) by seventy dhiraa and then illuminated. The person then says: ‘Allow me to go to my family, so that I may inform them’. They say to him: ‘Sleep like a groom, who is awakened only by that person who is most beloved to him from his family, until Allah Ta‘aala will resurrect you from that sleep (on the day of qiyaamah)’” – Tirmithi, Baihaqi.
