ESSALE SAWAAB
Esaal-e-Sawaab (to perform a
virtuous act and grant the reward to any person, alive or deceased) is
permissible and in fact (Mustahabb) meritorious.
Esaal-e-Sawab on a fixed day is just for convenience
of relatives and friends for “Du’a” .If anyone prays on behalf of another
person, the latter will receive the [spiritual] benefits – Allah Willing.
Physical worships, such as recitation of Qu’an -e-Pak,
fasting, rememberance of Almighty allah, etc..Financial worships, such as
charity, Zakaah, etc Combination of physical and financial worship, such as
Hajj. The rewardof all these three types can be sent to other Muslims.
for eg-Prayer Janaazah is a very basic right of a departed person upon living
Muslims. The very basic reason behind performance of Prayer Janaazah is seeking
Forgivness for the dead person (Marhoom).
And those who came after them say, “O our Lord!
Forgive us, and our brothers who accepted faith before us, and do not keep any
malice in our hearts towards the believers – O our Lord! Indeed You only are
the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.” (59/10)
O my Lord, keep me as establishserof prayer and someof my children too, O our
Lord, and accept my Prayer.O our Lord, forgive me and my parents and all
Muslims on the day when recokoning shall take place.14/40-41
O’ My Lord [Allah (Almighty.], have mercy on my parents like they have bought
me up through my childhood. (Surah Isra, Verse 24)
Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says: “And we reveal in the Qur’an that
which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe though it causes nothing to
the unjust but loss after loss.” (17/82)
In Islam is it permissible for a person
to fix a time, or date for voluntary (Nafal) prayer?
Imam Bukhari writes one day after the Fajr prayer, the Prophet Muhammad [Saws]
asked Bilal [Saws], tell me what good deeds you do because I heard your foot
steps in Jannat. Bilal replied the only thing I do is after I make Wudu I pray
Nafal how much Allah (Almighty.) wills me to do. (Bukhari: Chapter of Salaah)
Hafidhh Asqalani writes in his commentary on this Hadith. We can understand
from this Hadith that it is permissible for a person to fix a time for his/her
voluntary prayer. (Fath-ul-Bari Book of Salaah)
Imam Tabari, Hafidhh-Ibn-Kathir and
Qurtabi write:The Prophet Muhammad [Saws] used to go to the graves of the
martyrs of Uhd once a year and also recite the verse of the Holy Qur’an on
excellence of patience. The Prophet Muhammad [Saws] used to pray for them. When
the beloved Prophet Muhammad [Saws] passed away himself, the Khalifs, Abu-Bakr
[ra]
, Umar [ra], Usman [ra] and Ali [ra] used to do the same thing. [Tafsir
Tabari, Tafsir Ibn-Kathir and Tafsir Qurtabi by Imam Tabari, Hafidhh
Ibn-Kathir. Imam Qurtabi commentary of Surah Ra’d Verse 20.]
Hadrat Anas (ra) reports: He asked, “O Messenger
of Allah! We give charity for our deceased and we perform Hajj on their behalf
and we supplicate for them, do all these deeds reach them?” He (Saws)
replied, “Yes, they do receive them and they become happy with them like
anyone of you is happy when a tray of gifts is given to him.” [Raddul
Mukhtar]
Abu Huraira (Ra) reported Allah’s
Messenger (saws) as saying: When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but
three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious
son, who prays for him (for the deceased). (Muslim)
When I want to talk to allah I say prayers and when
I want that he talk to me I recite quran- Hazrath Ali(ra)
