Life after death
Narrated ‘Urwa (ra): When the wall fell on them (i.e. on Graves) during the Caliphate of Al-Walid bin ‘Abdul Malik, the people started repairing it, and a foot appeared to them. The people got scared and thought that it was the foot of the Prophet (ﷺ). No one could be found who could tell them about it till I (‘Urwa (ra ) said to them, “By Allah, (swt) this is not the foot of the Prophet (ﷺ) but it is the foot of Umar (ra).” (Bukhari Book #23, Hadith #474).
Anas bin Malik (ra) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: ‘After the deceased (dead) is placed in his grave and his companions turn to leave, he hears the shuffling of their feet as they walk away. Then there comes to him the two angels.’ (Part of Hadith) (Bukhari and Muslim).
……..The grave is the first of the hereafter’s domiciles; if one passes through it safely, what follows will be easier; and if one does not pass through it safely, what follows will be more horrible……(tirmidhi)
Verily, the dead are punished in their graves, and even the animals hear their screaming. (tabarani)
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “(After the questioning) a man
with a beautiful face, beautiful garments and sweet odor comes to the righteous
slave and says: “Rejoice in what pleases you, for this is your day which
you have been promised.” He asks: “Who are you? For your face is
perfectly beautiful and brings good.” He replies: “I am your good
deeds.” He then says: “My Lord, bring the Last Hour; my Lord bring
the Last Hour, so I may return to my people and my property.” Regarding
the evildoer, he (ﷺ) said: ” a man with an ugly face, ugly
garments and an offensive odor comes to him and says: “Be grieved with
what displeases you, for this is your day which you have been promised.”
He asks: “Who are you? For your face is most ugly and brings evil.”
He replies: “I am your wicked deeds.” He then says: “My Lord, do
not bring the Last Hour.” [Saheeh al-Jami as-Sageer, 1/1676]
“This Ummah will be tried in its grave. If it were not for the fear that
you might not bury your dead, I would pray to Allah to make you hear what I
hear.” [Saheeh Muslim]
Allah (swt)has declared it forbidden for the earth to eat the bodies of the prophets. So the prophets are living and they regularly receive their sustenance.Ibn Majah ,Abu Dawud, Nasa’i, Ahmad bin Hambal Musnad

Anas bin Mālik has reported: That
he had a short stick given to him by the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). When he died, it (the stick) was
buried with him, between his shirt and the side of his body. ( Ibn Kathīr in
al-Bidāyah wan-nihāyah (4:368))
Once he said to his companions about Hadrat ‘Isa (alayhis salam) that he will return to this world. Then Hadrat Eisa (alayhis salam) will visit Madinah and the Prophet (ﷺ) said:And when he (‘Isa) will stand beside my grave calling: “O Muhammad!” I will respond to him.Ibn Hajar ‘Asqalani, al-Matalib-ul-‘aliyah, (4: 23 # 3853).
“When a dead person is buried, two black angels with blue eyes come to him. One is called Munkar and the other Nakeer. They both ask him: ‘What did you use to say regarding this person (Muhammad (ﷺ))?’. He will say: ‘He is the bondsman and messenger of Allah Ta‘aala. Ash-hadu an-la ilaaha illallaahu, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa-rasuluh’. They both will say: ‘(After seeing signs) We knew that you are going to say this’. Then his grave is widened seventy dhiraa (cubits) by seventy dhiraa and then illuminated. The person then says: ‘Allow me to go to my family, so that I may inform them’. They say to him: ‘Sleep like a groom, who is awakened only by that person who is most beloved to him from his family, until Allah Ta‘aala will resurrect you from that sleep (on the day of qiyaamah)’” – Tirmithi, Baihaqi.
Abu Hurayrah(ra)reported that Allah’s Messenger(ﷺ)said: When a(believing)dead person is buried, two black and blue angels come to him. One of them is called Munkar, and the other Naklr. They ask him, “What did you use to say about this man (Muhammad (ﷺ))?” He says, as he used to say, “He is Allah’s ‘abd and Messenger; I testify that there is no deity (worthy of being worshipped) but Allah, and that Muhammad is His ‘abd and Messenger.” They say, “We expected you to say this.” His grave is then expanded for him to seventy cubits by seventy; it is illuminated forhim; and he is told, “Go to sleep.” He says, “Let me return to my people to inform them (about my good condition).” But they tell him, “Sleep as does a newlywed person, whom no one awakens except the member of his family who is dearest to him.” (He sleeps like that) until Allah raises him from his resting place. As for a hypocrite, he replies (to their questioning), “I heard the people say things; and I said the same; but I do not know.” They say, “We expected you to say this.” The earth is then told, “Contract on him.” And it contracts on him until his ribs break. Thus, his punishment continues therein, until Allah raises him from his abodo ‘(tirmidhi)
