“Bismillahir Rahmannir Raheem”Al-Hamdu Lillaahi Rabbil ‘Aalameen was Salaatu was- Salaamu ‘Alaa Sayidinaa Muhammadin wa Aalihi wa Asabihi Ajma ‘een (tauheed- risalat- ahkirat and islam-iman-ihsan)
Nazar-O-Niaz(vows and oblations)
And (recall) when the wife of ‘Imran said: ‘O my Lord, I vow purely to You what is in my womb, freeing him (from other obligations). So, accept (this offering) from me. You are indeed All-Hearing, All-Knowing.’ So when she delivered a baby girl, she submitted: ‘Lord, I have given birth but to a female child.’ But Allah knew best what she had given birth to. (She said:) ‘And the boy (that I prayed for) could never (be) like the girl (that Allah has blessed me with); and I have named her Maryam (Mary, the worshipper); and, surely, I commit her and her children to Your protection against (the mischief of) Satan, the outcast.’3/35-36
An example of this is that the mother of Sayyidah Maryam said, “O Allah(swt)! Whatever child I carry in my womb! Vow (nazar) for you. The child will be dedicated to the service of BaitulMuqaddas.” The vow was for Allah(swt)and the recipient was Baitul-Muqaddas, Surah Aale-1mran, Verse 35
2/270-And whatever you spend or whatever you vow to offer, Allah verily knows it and the evildoers have no helpers.
76/7-9. (These privileged servants of Allah are those) who fulfil their vows and keep fearing that Day whose severity spreads afar. And they give (their own) food, in deep love of Allah, to the needy, the orphan and prisoner (out of sacrifice, despite their own desire and need for it), (And say:) ‘We are feeding you only to please Allah. We do not seek any recompense from you nor (wish for) any thanks.
Fulfilling the vow and care for the oaths is part of imaan. One of the action that benefit a person after his death is the fulfilling the deceased’s vows(List of Beneficial Acts that benefit a person after his death—Janazah prayer for the deceased,Deeds of renewed benefit ,Charitable deeds from a child ,Fulfilling the deceased’s vows ,Payment of the deceased’s debts ,Supplications of the Muslims ,Guarding in Allah’s way ,Reviving the Sunnah etc)
Ibn ‘Abbas(ra) reported that a woman was travelling in the sea, and she vowed that if Allah saved her she would fast for one month. Allah saved her, but she died before fulfilling her vow. Her daughter came to the Prophet (saws)and mentioned this to him. He asked, Had she owed money as debt, wouldn’t you have paid it on her behalf? She replied, “Yes.” He said:Allah’s debt is more worthy of being fulfilled. So fulfill (the vow) for your mothers (bukhari)
Sa’d Bin ‘Ubadah reported that he told Allah’s Messenger(saws),”My mother has died; and she had an unfulfilled vow.” He instructed him: Fulfill it for her. (bukhari)
