Shabe baraat
“Sha’ban
is such a month between Rajab and Ramazan that people are careless as regards
to worshipping during this month. In this month, Deeds are presented before the
Lord of the Worlds and I prefer that my Deeds be presented in a state of
fasting.” {Sunan Nisai, Kitab us Sawm; H#2359}
“Rasul-Allah used to fast more during
Sha’ban than any other month because the names of all those who will die next
year are written down .” {Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Kitab us Siyam, Bab:
115; H#3}
….. He forgives all His creation except for a ‘Mushrik’ {Polytheist} or a ‘Mushahin’ {One bent upon Malice & Hatred}.” Sahih by Albani in {Silsilah al Ahadith al Sahihah, 3:135, H #1144}
……forgives all His creation except two people, the mushahin and the murderer. [Musnad Ahmad Vol 3, No 6353]
Imran bin Husain (ra) reported Allah’s Messenger (saws) having said to him or to someone else: Did you fast in the “Middle of Sha’ban?” He said: No. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: If you did not observe fast, then you should observe fast for two days. [Muslim Bk 6, No 2607]
Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa (radi Allahu anha) reports: “One night, which was the 14th of Shabaan, I did not find the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the house so I went in search of him. After a long search, I found him in Baqiah (the cemetery of Madinah) offering Du’a for the deceased and praying for their forgiveness”. (Baihaqi)
“O people! Lighten and cleanse your bodies by way of fasting during Shabaan, so that it shall be easy and helpful to you for the fast during Ramadaan. Whoso fasts for three days during Shabaan, all his past sins are wiped off”. (Baihaqi)
‘When
the 15th Night of Sha’ban comes, do Qiyam (for worship) in the night and
observe fast in the day. No doubt Allah reveals special Divine Manifestation on
sky above the earth from the time of sunset and announces, ‘Is there anyone
seeking forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone seeking
sustenance so that I may grant him sustenance? Is there anyone afflicted so
that I may relieve his affliction? Is there so and so…’ He keeps announcing
it until the time of the Fajr.’ [Sunan Ibn Majah,
Vol. 2, Page 160, Hadith 1388]
Narrated by Aisha (raa) I missed Allah’s Messenger
(saws) during the night and found him in al-Baqi’. He said: Were you afraid
that Allah and His Messenger would deal unjustly with you? I said: Allah’s
Messenger, I thought that you had gone to some of your other wives. He (the
Prophet) said: Verily Allah, the Exalted and
Glorious, comes down to the heaven of the world in “the middle night of
Sha’ban” and forgives sins even more abundant than the hair of the
goats of Kalb. [Sunan Tirmidhi Vol 1, No
670, Ibn Maja Vol 2, No 1379]
