Indeed, the one who purifies his (ill-commanding) self (from all vain and vicious desires and cultivates in it virtue and piousness) succeeds, But the one who corrupts himself (in sins and suppresses virtue) is doomed indeed.91/9-10
And that you should seek forgiveness from your Lord, then repent before Him (with true hearts). …11/3
And it will be said (to them): ‘Today We forget you as you forgot your Meeting on this Day. And Hell is your abode and there will be no helper for you45/34
Then he who transgressed the limits, And preferred the life of the world (to the Hereafter), Hell will truly be (his) abode.79/37-40
(They are) the people whose hearts get into fear when Allah is mentioned, and they bear with fortitude whatever troubles touch them. And they establish Prayer, and give away out of what We have bestowed upon them.22/35
(O My servant!) Stay tenaciously in the companionship of those who remember their Lord morning and evening, ardently seeking His pleasure,…18/28
And (also) do not follow him whose heart We have made neglectful of Our remembrance, and who follows but the urge of his (ill-commanding self) and his case has exceeded all bounds.18/28

….rather (the fact is that the evil deeds) which they earned have rusted their hearts. (The Revelations, therefore, do not move their hearts.) The truth is that they will be screened off (to deprive them of) the sight of their Lord. Then they will be cast into Hell.83/13-16
“When Allah Almighty loves a person so, he calls Jabrail (alaihi as-salaam) and says that ” O Jabrail I love my so and so servant, and you also love him. Hence Jabrail (as) also loves him. Then Jabrail (as) announces in the skies that Allah Ta’ala loves his servant than all of the dwellers of skies love him. Then he is made beloved amongst the dwellers of the earth”.(muslim)
Imam Abu Nuaim in Hilya and Imam Ibne Asakir narrate from
Abdullah ibne Masood (Radi Allahu ta’ala anhu ) that the Most Beloved Prophet
(Salla Allahu ta’ala alayhi wa Sallam) says ;”Undoubtedly there are 300 Awliya (friend) of Allah within his
creature and there hearts are the heart of Adam (alaihis salaam) and the hearts
of 40 are like the heart of Musa (alaihis salaam) and the hearts of the seven
are like the heart of Ibraheem (alaihis salaam) and the heart of the five are
like the heart of Jabrail (alaihis salaam) and the hearts of the three are like
the heart of Mikail (alaihis salaam) and the heart of one is like the heart of
Israfeel (alaihis salaam). When that one (whose heart is like the heart of
Israfeel) dies the one amonge of three made his representative and when some
one dies among these three the one among five is made his representative and
when some one dies from five the one among the seven is made his representative
and when some one dies from seven the one among the forty is made his representative
and when some one dies from the forty the one among the three hundred is made
his representative and when some one dies from the three hundred the one among
the general creature is made his representative. These are the 356 Awliya due
to them the life, death, raining and the growing of the plant is happened

Imam Nawawi (ra), and also Ibn Maja (ra) report that when Sayyadina Rasoolallah was asked about the characteristics of the Awliya, he declared, “Allah is remembered when they are seen.”(ibn maja)
Imam Ahmad
ibn Hanbal says in his Musnad (1:112): … The people of Syria were mentioned
in front of `Ali ibn Abi Talib while he was in Iraq, and they said: “Curse
them, O Commander of the Believers.” He replied: “No, I heard the
Messenger of Allah say: “The
Substitutes (al-abdal) are in Syria and they are forty men, every time one of
them dies, Allah substitutes another in his place. By means of them Allah
brings down the rain, gives (Muslims) victory over their enemies, and averts
punishment from the people of Syria.””
“Allah said, ‘I
will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper (walî)
of Mine. And the most beloved
things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined (frad)
upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing nawâfil (praying or doing extra
deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he
hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks
My protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge) and I do
not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for
he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him.” Narrated by Abu Huraira
(Radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) (Bukhari)
