“Bismillahir Rahmannir Raheem”Al-Hamdu Lillaahi Rabbil ‘Aalameen was Salaatu was- Salaamu ‘Alaa Sayidinaa Muhammadin wa Aalihi wa Asabihi Ajma ‘een (tauheed- risalat- ahkirat and islam-iman-ihsan)
Tawheed and Shirk(Monotheism or Polytheism)4
Perfect understanding of religion is by knowing – 1. Tauheed and Shirk 2. Iman and Kufr 3. Biddat and sunnat
TOUHID AND SHIRK—THE DECEASED PIOUS HAVE NEVER BEEN WORSHIPPED BECAUSE OF THEIR PIETY
POLYTHEISTS OF MAKKAH WORSHIPPED ANGELS.
(43/15-19) -thinking that they were
Allah’s daughters. They worshipped the angels as if they were a part of Allah. Some
of the polytheists of Makkah would think that the angels were also the sons of
Allah. (21/26-27) .However, as we know, both were wrong
POLYTHEISTS OF MAKKAH WORSHIPPED IBLIS (SATAN)
(4/117)-It was due to the whispers of Iblis that the polytheists worshipped the idols. the names of their gods such as, Lat, Mannat and Uzza were female names.
POLYTHEISTS OF MAKKAH WORSHIPPED JINN
(6/100, 37/158)-They thought that the Jinn were related to Allah and therefore they were also entitled to being worship.
POLYTHEISTS OF MAKKAH WORSHIPPED STARS AND THE MOON
(41/37, 53/49)-astrologers of old used to study the positions of the moon, sun and other planets believing that their motions affect human beings. Another reason could be because they felt that the sun and moon provide us with many benefits, they felt they should be worshipped.
POLYTHEISTS OF MAKKAH WORSHIPPED IDOLS
(53/19-21) the names of their gods such as, Lat, Mannat and Uzza were female names.
ORIGIN OF IDOLS
They were names made up by the polytheists and their fathers (53/23, 10/66)when the Prophet Muhammad (saws) recited these verses, the polytheists did not argue with him by saying the names of their idols were in actual fact, names of previous Prophets and saints.
Even the names of the Prophets and the pious are important to Allah
(19/7, 3/45) Allah Almighty has given his Prophet Sayyidina Yahya/john (as ) the glad tidings of a name which none have had before, and in the case of Sayyidina Isa, (as) he too was given a unique name. This indicates that there is an importance attached to the names of the Prophets and pious.
NO ORIGIN FROM PREVIOUS NATIONS IDOLS
(7/71)—speaks of Hud (as) who told his nation how they had named their own idols. the names of the idols were names that the people themselves had given(not the names of any pious people).
(12/40) Yusuf (as) is telling his nation that the names of the idols are only names which they themselves have named. Just as the nation of Hud (as) did not argue with with their Prophet who had made a similar statement, neither did the nation of Yusuf (as).
even during previous nations, the deceased pious were never worshipped.
THE MEANING OF THE WORD TADU (worship, to draw attention, simple calling )
10/18, 16/73, 25/55, 26/92, 39/3— Allah is saying they worshipped those idols and not invoked. For example, in verse 39/3 they are themselves admitting they worshipped the idols!
3/153,24/63,3/104— In these three verses calling translates into the Arabic word tadu. one must recognize that this word does not only mean to call upon. If this were the case, in verse 3/153, the Prophet Muhammad (saws) is calling upon the companions! (mazallah/I seek shelter in Allah!) In this context Muhammad (saws) is calling the companions for Jihad.
28/88—where the word tadu does in actual fact, mean to call upon (worship).
The only time when the word tadu does actually mean to call upon, (worship) is when it is mentioned with the words along with Allah.
Remember that at other times tadu will have other meanings, such as to bring something to ones attention.
The polytheists of Makkah would worship angels, Jinn, idols, the stars and the moon but nowhere does the Quran state that the deceased pious have been worshipped.
When I want to talk to allah I say prayers and when I want that he talk to me I recite quran- Hazrath Ali(ra)
