Shabe mehraj

The faith of Islam is based on aqeeda (creed). Without his no deeds are acceptable.

Therefore every muslim must know the creed of Islam According to Imam Nasafi (died

537 AH), there are some 63 articles of faith which make up the Islamic creed. One of these

articles of faith is the miracle of ascension (Miraj).

All of the books of creed speak about the ascension since it is definite aqeeda.

There are differences among scholars regarding the date, month and also the year of Me’raj. However, there is nothing against praying and glorifying the Lord and remembering the Prophet (Pbuh) on a particular night.

It certainly is not a Bid’at unless the prayers of 27th Rajab are assumed to be obligatory part of Deen.

Similarly Aqaid-e-Nasafi by Imam Nasafi which is a standard aqeeda book

in Hanafi schools world over says, “The Prophet’s  ascension was a bodily journey in a

wakeful state to the heavens and then to the heights where Allah wished him to go.”

“In the Miraj, he was taken to Masjid al-Aqsa and then to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha, and wherever Allah wished.” (Aqaid an Nasafi)

Imam Ibn Rajab said in `Awarif al-Lata’if (p. 233): “It is narrated with an unsound chain from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad that the Isra’ of the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) was on the 27th of Rajab.

According to Imam Nawawi and Zaraqaani, the Miraj took place on the 27th of Rajab some 17 months before the Hijrah in the year of sorrow(when his  beloved wife and caring uncle died). The ascension in a was was a “Divine treat” for him.

Forty five companions have narrated ahadith about the Miraj.

In the tafsir of Ibn Katheer,he has devoted 15 pages and compiled most of the authentic ahadith on this topic.

All the six books of Hadith contain chapters on Miraj. If they hadn’t discussed it, we would have become ignorant about this aqeeda.

Imam Bukhari in his Jami us-Sahih, in the “Book of Tawhid” has a chapter devoted to Miraj

Imam Muslim’s Jami us-Sahih has a chapter called “Isra” in the “Book of the beginning of the revelation”

Imam Abdur Razzaaq (Ra), Ustaaz of Imam Bukhari (Ra), in his famous Musannaf reports from his Ustaaz Imam Mah’mar (Ra):

Imam Mah’mar(Ra) narrates from Imam Hasan Al-Basri who swore an oath in the Name of ALLAH that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah () positively saw his Creator.

Imam Ibne Hazeema (Ra) narrates from Sayyiduna Orwa bin Zubair (Ra), who is the cousin of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah () and grandson of Sayyiduna Abu-Bakr (Ra). He also accepts that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah () saw ALLAH on the night of Meh’raaj.

The following Luminaries held similar views:
1. Sayyiduna Kaab Ah’baar (Ra) who was a great Aalim of the previous Scriptures.
2. Imam Ibne Sha’haab Zahri Qarshi
3. Imam Mujaahid Makh’zoomi Makki
4. Imam Akrama bin Abdullah Madani Haashimi
5. Imam Ata bin Rabah Qarshi Makki (Ra) (Ustaaz of Imam Abu-Haneefa)
6. Imam Muslim bin Sabeeh Abud-Duha Kufi (Ra) etc.
and all the students of A’limul Quraan Jabrul-Ummah Sayyiduna Abdullah ibne Abbaas (Ra) confirm the Divine Vision.

When I want to talk to allah I say prayers and when I want that he talk to me I recite quran- Hazrath Ali(ra)
