“Why once a year?”

Imam Tabari, Hafidhh-Ibn-Kathir and Qurtabi write:The Prophet Muhammad [Saws] used to go to the graves of the martyrs of Uhd once a year and also recite the verse of the Holy Qur’an on excellence of patience. The Prophet Muhammad [Saws] used to pray for them. When the beloved Prophet Muhammad [Saws] passed away himself, the Khalifs, Abu-Bakr [Saws], Umar [Saws], Usman [Saws] and Ali [Saws] used to do the same thing. [Tafsir Tabari, Tafsir Ibn-Kathir and Tafsir Qurtabi by Imam Tabari, Hafidhh Ibn-Kathir. Imam Qurtabi commentary of Surah Ra’d Verse 20.]

From all this we can conclude or understand that going to the grave of a saint once a year is permissible and is not an innovation (bidah). Also to lecture in a gathering is just another way of doing Dawah (work propagating Islam).

IN ISLAM IS IT PERMISSIBLE FOR A PERSON TO FIX A TIME OR DATE FOR VOLUNTARY(NAFAL) PRAYER?

1.Imam Bukhari writes one day after the Fajr prayer, the Prophet Muhammad [Saws] asked Bilal [ra], tell me what good deeds you do because I heard your foot steps in Jannat. Bilal replied the only thing I do is after I make Wudu I pray Nafal how much Allah (Almighty.) wills me to do. (Bukhari: Chapter of Salaah)
Hafidhh Asqalani writes in his commentary on this Hadith. We can understand from this Hadith that it is permissible for a person to fix a time for his/her voluntary prayer. (Fath-ul-Bari Book of Salaah)
2.The Holy Prophet (saws) has commanded to perform the child’s Aqeeqah on the 7th day.

3.Rasoolullah (saws) went to Ghazwa-e-Tabook on a Thursday and he preferred to journey on a Thursday.

4.The Holy Prophet (saws) would go every Saturday to Musjid-e-Quba.

BARAKAH/BLESSINGS

Yes, making ibaadat in a place where a pious person used to sit, or making ibaadat thinking that a certain area is blessed, is permissible. In fact, it is Sunnat.

Imam Bukhari (ra)states that Hadrat Abdullah ibn Umar used to read namaaz on the path wherever the Holy Prophet(saws)sometimes performed ibaadat. At some of these places, Musjids were even built. However, some were erroneously built not at the actual places of’ Rasooullah’s (saws)ibaadat.Hadrat Abdullah ibn Umar (ra) would never read namaaz in these Musjids and only perform ibaadat in the correct ones. Bukhari Sharif, Vol. I, Kitaabus-Salaab, Baabu/-Masaajid Alatt fi Tareeqil-Madina .This was entirely to attain barkat.

Haajis go to the Cave of Hira, wherein Rasooullah(saws)made ibaadat for six months, to make Salaah. Therefore, performing Salaah in the ibaadat quarters of Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaaz etc, visiting and believing in them to be blessed is proven from the Sunnah of the Sahaabah.

MARKING OF A GRAVE

Narrated Al-Muttalib: When Uthman ibn Maz’un died, he was brought out on his bier and buried. The Prophet (saws) ordered a man to bring him a stone, but he was unable to carry it. The Apostle of Allah (saws) got up and going over to it rolled up his sleeves.*[Abu Dawud, Book 20, Number 3200]

Various ahadiths encourage to keep adab in treating the grave by not standing or sitting on it, etc. Therefore, the basis of respecting the grave is established.

It is forbidden to perform circumbulation/tawaaf around the grave. (Bahar Shariat, Ash’atul Lam’aat).

A Nation, which does not honour its true servants and heroes, is an ungrateful Nation and is bound to confusion.

When I want to talk to allah I say prayers and when I want that he talk to me I recite quran- Hazrath Ali(ra)
